Heuristic Play Sets

Heuristic play brings about a sense of curiosity and exploratory play. A heuristic basket/treasure basket contain items where children can manipulate, explore, compare, feel, and make sense of what they have discovered through play.
It is ideal for adults to provide a child with a heuristic basket for some quiet play without any adult intervention. If adults do choose to intervene, especially with children under the age 3 months, this is the perfect opportunity for adults to interact with the child with a loose part. Adult interactions build connection. Connections support brain development.
